Buffalo BD Recorder
Buffalo has also thrown its weight behind the Blu-ray camp by releasing a new range of internal and external Blu-ray recorders that feature a 4x recording speed. There is no fixed price on these recorders as at press time, although the internal SATA version ought to be in the 310 Euros neighborhood while the external USB 2.0 model should be a wee bit more expensive at 340 Euros. I am a sucker for some good movie memorabilia.  Personally, I found Spiderman 3 a little bit long in the tooth, but it has its fans.  A few props from the franchise have been doing the rounds and the Green Goblin stuff has been among the most popular.  It is a hard rubber sword, 31-inches long and said to be in perfect condition.  The detailing looks pretty cool and I the seller buysellcollections has a solid 99.7% satisfaction rating.  That all makes for a big auction. Hilary Clinton jack-in-the-box
Now you can get your own “very limited first edition” HIllary-in-the-Box for just $30. This comes from Pop Art Creations, which will make you a custom jack-in-the-box in your image. It was cute on the Ellen Degeneres show, but for the rest of us, it seems a bit creepy to me, whether you’d be getting it for yourself or to send to a loved one. Either way, . . . why? And why just Hillary Clinton? What about the other candidates? Are they not jack-in-the-box worthy? What’s the message here? See our editors’ picks of toys and gadgets at the Popgadget Shop. Lightning Reaction Electric Shock Game

Lightning Reaction Electric Shock Game

A superb party game, which brings a mixture of fear, fun and hilarity in equal measure. Up to four people can play; each taking hold of a handle. The 6″ (15cm) device is activated by pushing the central button, which glows red as a ghostly wail is emitted. After a few seconds (the time lapse varies) the sound abruptly stops, the light turns green and the players must each press the button on their handle. The player who is slowest to respond receives an electric shock. The suspense is almost as bad as the shock itself!

Vista SP1 doesn’t significantly boost performance, slows down certain tasks
Posted Feb 13th 2008 6:06PM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Desktops, LaptopsWe heard a lot of different performance claims about Vista SP1 in past few month, and now that it’s finally (sort of) here, it’s time to bust out the stopwatches and see what’s what. According to CNET, early tests of SP1 indicate that while there are some performance enhancements to be had, they’re mostly driver related — so if you’ve been updating all along, you won’t see much of an improvement. What’s worse, certain tasks like copying files to USB 2.0 hard drives have gotten around 50 percent slower, a speed hit that overshadows the other filesystem improvements in SP1.
