Written by admin on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 in gadgets.

Panasonic Lumix FX500
Panasonic won’t rest until they flood the market with their digital cameras, and the latest bet is the Lumix FX500. Priced at $400 and with a release date set to May, the FX500 is similar to the “old” FX35, with the only difference being the addition of a touchscreen. The rest of the features are pretty much the same: 3-inch screen, 10.1-megapixel sensor, and the usual face recognition. The list continues with a 5x optical zoom, and a great 720p HD video recording mode. via (Read the full post about ‘Panasonic Lumix FX500′…)

Is Cupertino looking to make the iPhone Clam up?

Is Cupertino looking to make the iPhone Clam up?

According to patent applicaitons with Uncle Sam, Apple may be toying with a clamshell iphone design that marries the multi touch screen interface with flip phone carrying convenience. The patent is for what is described as a “dual sided trackpad,” which is kinda a hand held dual screen Nintendo DS for adults. But that’s not all. The patent is for a multi touch interface that would be useable from BOTH ssides of the screen, making it active whether the clamshell iPhone is in the open or closed position. This also gives the user a three screen functionality and interaction which makes for some rather interesting design possibilities (see the mockup below). One Handed Xbox 360 Controller
Ben Heck, modder extraordinaire, is back with a new one handed Xbox 360 controller. This revised version features a more ergonomic grip and comes with a swivelling trigger and an integrated playstation D-pad to help you move your character around on screen with just one hand, freeing up the other to pump chips and soda into your bloated body that has fused itself into the living room couch. This is a prototype at this point in time, and it remains to be seen whether it will enter production or not. You can read up on other Ben Heck mods in our archives. How to: Sync Google Calandar with Outlook

How to: Sync Google Calandar with Outlook
If you are like me, you have an Outlook Calendar for work and Google Calendar for your life.  Often, I find the need to have the two mix and I am far too lazy to enter everything in twice.  Now you don’t have to.  Google announces their download Sync helper to add your Google Calendar to your Outlook Calendar with lots of options. First a couple of warnings: one, the link below is an executable that will download the sync software to your machine.  Two, your shared calendars will not sync, only your primary (its a bit of a downer for me).  Other than those, Google has really thought this out as you’ll see next. Charlie Rose Bravely Smashes His Face To Save MacBook Air

Written by admin on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 in gadgets.

You’re walking along New York’s 59th Street, proudly carrying your shiny new macbook air. You trip on a pothole and take a face-dive toward the pavement.

Do you a) Save yourself, letting the Mac take the impact. Hell, it might not break, and that scratch will be a badge of honor. Or b) Protect your shiny toy at the expense of your own head. Hell, it might not break, and that scar will be a badge of honor.

If you are journalist and gadget-freak Charlie Rose, the correct answer is b), with the result clearly visible in the picture above. According to Rose’s office, “The Macbook Air is fine, he showed us the blood stains on it this morning.”

3 Piece Motion-Activated Security System

Here’s an extremely affordable home security system that won’t break the bank - after all, it retails for a mere $14.99! You get two sensors that each operate independently; when motion is detected within 5′, it will sound an alarm for 5 seconds. Gives you a 5-second exit delay after you activate it. You also get a simulated security video camera that has a flashing red LED light, and actually “pans” side to side, to help deter potential intruders. Sensors and camera each have an on/off switch, and require three AA batteries (nine in total; none included). Sensors are each 3″x3-1/4″ tall; extend 2-1/4″ from wall.
