Who says snail mail is dead? USPS offering electronics recycling free by mail
While everyone else in the world seems to be forgetting about snail mail, here comes the US Postal Service putting the old way of communicating into a fresh and yet good use – recycling electronics. The US Postal Service is advocating the recycling of electronic products, such as mobile phones and inkjet cartridges to name a few. If you’re sick and tired of your broken iPods you may put them in an envelope provided by the USPS and send those electronics via snail mail. The envelope will be provided by the USPS and will be strategically placed in 1500 post offices across the US. (Read the full post about ‘Who says snail mail is dead? KP3 Touchpad Dynamic Effect Sampler

We’ve seen the smaller Kaossilator Touchpad Synthesizer and the Mini-Kaoss Touchpad Effects Processor in the past, but the KP3 Touchpad Dynamic Effect Sampler beats those out in terms of functionality. By simply touching, tapping or sliding your finger over the touchpad, the all-new KP3 allows you to control multiple effects parameters and manipulate samples in real time. On stage or in the studio, these gestures and moves can become powerful and expressive performance elements. More than a processor, the KP3 is a complete instrument allowing you to manage, recall, and play back samples; sample on the fly; and add dynamic processing to any audio signal or to the samples themselves. A new pad lighting system places 64 individual LEDs in an eight by eight grid under the pad, providing visual cues as to the current program, held position, etc. (Read the full post about ‘KP3 Touchpad Dynamic Effect Sampler’…)

The Stunning Camera Project

Don’t you just hate those sudden electric jolts whenever static gets discharged during a cold day? The Stunning Camera project offers similar ‘treatment’ to your unsuspecting victm. The stunning camera is a nifty little mod you can do to any standard disposable camera from your local grocery/convenience store. The idea behind The Stunning Camera is that a high voltage is required to charge the internal capacitor, so why not just let that charge flow through the camera user’s hand when they try to snap a photo. Of course it won’t be your hand! >=D. Sounds like a pretty cool but mean trick come this April Fool’s Day! (Read the full post about ‘The Stunning Camera Project’…)

Dog Fetch-Machine for the Lazy
A video uploaded in YouTube displays the perfect gadgets for everyone who cares for their pets, but are too lazy to play with them. As you can see on the video below, a sausage dog Dachshund named Jerry seems to be happy on its own playing fetch. Just imagine being relieved of the obligation to play fetch with your dog on a lazy Sunday morning. On a serious note, this seems to be the perfect mechanism for people with disabilities who keep animals in their houses for company. (Read the full post about ‘Dog Fetch-Machine for the Lazy’…)

Bunny and carrot paper towel holder

Bunny and carrot paper towel holder
I’m all for getting into the spirit of the season with some holiday decorations, but spending $45 on a thermoplastic resin bunny and carrot paper towel holder for Easter is a bit much. Then again, the green and blue figures standing guard beside the 13.4″ carrot look more like mind-controlling alien children wearing rabbit ears than the Easter Bunny. And those kids are festive year-round. Via Nerd Approved. (Read the full post about ‘Bunny and carrot paper towel holder’…)

OpenMoko unveils follow-up to the Neo1973, dubbed the Freerunner
OpenMoko has released some details for the follow up to the sweet looking, and well spec’d Neo1973. We first heard some rumblings of a follow up device back in mid-February and it seems that OpenMoko has begun showing it off. Being called the Freerunner, its slightly disappointing to look at, sporting a very similar style as the current Neo1973 (as shown above), but the specs should not be as disappointing. The Freerunner will feature a 400 MHz Samsung CPU, 264MB ROM, 128MB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi (802.11n), a microSD card has also been equipped with a three-axis accelerometer. Screen grabs: Nokia N770 Lives Free, Dies Hard
Posted Mar 22nd 2008 3:20AM by Ryan BlockFiled under: HandheldsScreen grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today’s movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dt com. Even the appearance of Justin Long as the scrappy sidekick failed to keep Live Free or Die Hard from so-bad-it’s-bad territory — but the various appearances of a Nokia N770 bestowed with superpowers (sure, all handhelds can sign into satellite phone networks and interface with power station control systems) were pretty entertaining in their own right. We’re a little confused, though — didn’t the producers at least realize that our man Bruce would be using an N810 to c (Read the full post about ‘Screen grabs: Nokia N770 Lives Free, Dies Hard’…)

Poll: Did The Onion’s predicted Apple backlash actually start today?
Posted Mar 21st 2008 7:57PM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Desktops, Laptops You might recall The Onion breaking the news back in October that the Apple backlash was set to begin as of today, and if The Onion says it, it’s got to be true. Right? Sure, the Cupertino fruit company’s been riding high as of late, but if America’s Finest News Source has it, we’ll all be looking at our iDevices like bellbottoms and Betamaxes soon enough. Did the Apple backlash start today ?Yes, even the fanboys have to admit things have been a bit stale lately.Oh hell no, Steve would never let that happen. RDF, RDF, RDF…It’s on — at least until we score some seriously updated MacBook Pros.Started? (Read the full post about ‘Poll: Did The Onion’s predicted Apple backlash actually start today?’…)
