NapTV Splices Stool And Screen

NapTV Splices Stool And Screen
An idea as simple as the NapTV deserves a similarly simple description, which is exactly what designer Sung-kyu Nam has done. These are the only words accompanying the pictures of his concept: NapTV has a new concept about TV & Chair. You can sit on NapTV and also watch TV lying on the floor. The stool hides a screen and stereo speakers on the underside so you can lie down with your head inside. That’s right. You can watch a movie even if you are too tired to remain upright. All that is required is a single open eye. This, my friends, is a bachelor’s dream. You can literally drink yourself under the table and then fall asleep watching your choice of smut. It even comes with a remote control. (Read the full post about ‘NapTV Splices Stool And Screen’…)

First Intel Atom device to be Sharp-Willcom D4 UMPC
Thanks to Sharp, we all just got a look at what will be the first device to be released with Intel’s Atom processor. The D4, which Sharp will be manufacturing for Japanese telecom Willcom, should be arriving some time in June and will be powered by a 1.33GHz Atom processor. The Z520 processor is a 2W (TDP) model with a 533MHz FSB which is part of the line formerly codenamed “Silverthorne”. The D4 is expected to be about one pound and arrive with 1GB of RAM and a 40GB hard drive. The screen is a 5-inch 1024×600 touch-sensitive model, which will probably be similar to that found on the Fujitsu U810. The D4 will also have a slide-out keyboard, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, and a 2MP camera. (Read the full post about ‘First Intel Atom device to be Sharp-Willcom D4 UMPC’…)

Controlling Contrast On Digital Pictures

Controlling Contrast On Digital Pictures
Filed in archive Tip by jim on April 14, 2008 "Contrast" is the difference in color and light between parts of an image. If all parts of a photograph, be it color or B&W, were completely and equally illuminated, or at the same "brightness" level, nothing would stand out in the image. There would be no point of interest, no "pop" to the subject, it would appear "flat", which describes a lack of contrast in a picture. I happen to be a fan of higher contrast photography; but many people prefer less "edge" and a softer effect. The picture above, depending on how it appears on your computer monitor, is an example of how I like a picture to look, in terms of contrast. LG KF750 Official but Nameless
LG’s KF750 is the third generation of the Black Label series, but it still lacks a name unlike its predecessors, the Chocolate and Shine. What do you think would be a name apt for the LF750? No matter what your guess is, April 24th is the official date where the brand name will be revealed, along with the handset’s complete specifications. The only details we know about the KF750 is it carrying a 5 megapixel camera while using pretty hardy materials like carbon fiber and tempered glass. Comdex 1996: Day 5

Comdex 1996: Day 5
We are continuing our reminiscing about Comdex 1996. I snapped this photo of American Megatrends booth just because it was shaped like a pyramid. American Megatrends now goes by AMI and they are still making motherboards and storage: AMI : American Megatrends Inc. : Home Page Filed under the category of things that are the wrong size is this tiny LCD television screen. I had Mike hold up his hand so we could show people how small it was. Once again, I have to apologize to the company that showcased this little screen because I have no idea who you are. When I saw this LCD screen, I imagined that we could have television on our watches. Now that it’s possible, I don’t really care anymore. (Read the full post about ‘Comdex 1996: Day 5′…)

Cold Seat Fends Off Summer Heat

Cold Seat Fends Off Summer Heat
The sweltering summer heat is nothing to joke about, and kids are more subsceptible to heat than we adults so leaving them in a car is a big no-no. Even worse is the fact that most kids seat behind while mom and dad are upfront, enjoying the full blast of the air-condition system. The Cold Seat aims to alleviate little ones’ suffering, but it will take some preparation beforehand. First, you will need to stick it in the freezer before the next car ride and fasten it onto a standard car seat when you and your family are good to go. It is simple to store and carry around without adding too much weight or bulk to your boot, but somehow I think purchasing a car with air-condition vents for the rear passengers is a much better idea. LG’s touchscreen T80 media player only has 4GB
LG’s giving our Danish friends a little something to look forward to: the 3-inch 400 x 240 touchscreen T80, which has 4GB of storage, DVB-T and FM tuners, and OGG support (as well as the usual MP3, WMA, MPEG-4, etc.) in a chubby 0.5-inch thick package. We hear it’s priced at a hefty €299 (~$470 US), which might prove a tad prohibitive to sales among the intelligent. Tengu: Facial Expression Toy

Tengu: Facial Expression Toy
If you spend most part of your day alone, sitting in front of a computer with no one to chat, and at the same time love USB gadgets, check out the Tengu. Basically, the small toy has bright LEDs that responds to different sounds, by displaying (14) various faces. Tengu can sing along while you’re listening to your favorite tunes, and also has a function to lip sync as you speak. I think Tengu is suppose to make that lonely feel go away, because you’ll start interacting with it, but I don’t know if a gadget like this will work with everyone. To get it working just blow on his face, and if you want to see another facial expression, simply blow on the mic. (Read the full post about ‘Tengu: Facial Expression Toy’…)
