Tetris Arm Wrestling

Tetris Arm Wrestling
Fans of Tetris might want to see how their brawn measure up with Tresling - a brand new take on the classic game. Opponents are placed against one another on an arm wrestling board, where the pieces will shift based on whoever is in control. Guess this is one place where both electronic gaming and being buffed up will be able to co-exist in perfect harmony, as most gamers prefer to just lay back and subsist on a slice of pizza while knocking back a can of Coke in their hand. LG T80: Portable Media Player

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in gadgets.

LG has more popularity on the cellphone market, but recently they announced a new portable media player - the T80.

The audio device has all the features you could ask, such as a cool design that resembles the Viewty cellphone, and a DVB-T tuner so you can watch TV and (hopefully) record some content into the internal memory that has 4 GB of storage.

The battery could life could be be better, it only provides 6 hours while working non-stop with the multimedia features, or 2 hours while watching TV continuously. On the other hand, the 3-inch screen with 420×240 resolution seems to be good enough to watch video and view photos.

No information if it will become available in other countries besides Denmark.

LG CU720 Shine (AT&T) Review - Mobile Burn

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in gadgets.

Mobile Burn reviews the LG CU720 Shine (AT&T) and writes, “The LG Shine sports a 2 megapixel camera, located on the back, with a flash and self-portrait mirror. There are plenty of options in the camera application, including the ability to record video. The camera viewer requires that you hold the Shine in landscape mode, which allows for comfortable picture taking. The handset is also able to stand on its side, making self-timer shots a breeze. I found the photo quality to be very good, and the flash did not completely wash out the subject. I would easily recommend the LG Shine’s camera as great for capturing moments to send via MMS, or even to use on a personal blog.

Nokia’s 6212 with Bluetooth NFC: Let the pairing revolution begin!
by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 15th 2008 at 5:16AM This is the day we’ve been waiting for. While the 3G Nokia 6212 classic doesn’t look like much, what it lacks in style is more than made up by the genius of Bluetooth-enabled Near Field Communication. If you remember the video we showed you way back in March of 2007, the combo makes device pairing and transferring content like photos, video, music, calendar data, contacts, etc. as easy a touching the phone to a NFC-enabled picture frame, cellphone, speaker, or headset like Nokia’s own NFC-variant of the BH-210. It will also work with NFC payment systems. (Read the full post about ‘Nokia’s 6212 with Bluetooth NFC: Let the pairing revolution begin!’…)

Apple ][ GS Laptop From Ben Heckendorn

Apple ][ GS Laptop From Ben Heckendorn
Barely days after unveiling his amazing PS3 laptop, Ben Heck strikes again with something a whole lot cooler, quite literally: An Apple ][ gs laptop. The large amount of vertical air holes (basically pointless since this machine gets about as hot as your average pocket calculator) are meant to subconsciously remind the viewer of the fairly compact Apple IIc. The custom built portable uses all original parts, including motherboard, joystick and mouse ports and floppy connector, the case adds some up-to-date features: A big 15″ LCD, custom, laser etched acrylic keys and the obligatory blight of modern electronics, a blue LED. Ben designed this to be all 1980s, all the time (although it also reminds us of an ipod dock). (Read the full post about ‘Apple ][ GS Laptop From Ben Heckendorn’…)

Ladybug reads memory cards and U.S. dollars

Ladybug reads memory cards and U.S. dollars
Memory card readers come in all shapes and sizes these days, but few rely on a rechargeable lithium battery to power their . . . built-in cash note verifiers. Yes, this innocent-looking ladybug 3-in-1 reader ($16) is absolutely unforgiving against counterfeit currency. Don’t ask me how it works (I couldn’t tell you if you did), but the 2.2″ x 1.4″ x 1.0″ ladybug is packing a black light (?) somewhere under those wings that “illuminates” the security strip embedded into U.S. dollars. If you’ve never questioned the legitimacy of the cash in your wallet, you can still make use of the ladybug’s integrated USB charging cable and ability to read T-Flash, microSD, and microSDHC cards. Via GeekAlerts. (Read the full post about ‘Ladybug reads memory cards and U.S. dollars’…)

NVIDIA’s physics engine 15x faster than Intel’s

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in gadgets.

NVIDIA has recently shown analysts the power of their physics engine extensions to CUDA, which are nearly complete. The physics engine extensions will allow simulations of various real-world phenomena using highly complex mathematical models which mimic their behavior. This data will prove invaluable in countless disciplines, including gaming to produce for more real characters, thanks to the power of extreme parallelism resulting in real-time operations.

To put the new engine’s power into perspective, Intel has recently demonstrated a physics simulation running on a multi-core Nehalem system without the assistance of the GPU.
