Penguin Wetsuit coming along fine

Penguin Wetsuit coming along fine
I still can’t believe my eyes after reading this news article over and over again, which is why I want to share this tech-related story with you guys. It is more of a science than anything else, featuring a penguin in a wetsuit. First of all, why would a penguin be wearing a wetsuit in the first place? Apparently, this is no laughing matter as biologists at the California Academy of Sciences had developed a wetsuit created for an African penguin in order to assist him get back in the swim of things. The penguin’s name is Pierre, ageing along pretty well at 25 years of age and is losing plenty of hair, rendering him the social embarrassment of an exposed, pale pink derierre. FC Mobile Portable NES Game Player

FC Mobile Portable NES Game Player
Last week, I covered a story about someone who put an entire Nintendo Entertainment System inside of a Super Mario Brothers cartridge. I would like to take the next logical step on NES emulator reporting, and discuss the FC Mobile, an NES emulator that is completely portable. For a portable gaming system, the FC Mobile is one thick mobile device. After all, the playstation Portable (PSP) and Nintendo DS are about half the size of the FC Mobile, and they both play games that are way more advanced than anything the NES ever put out. Considering the size of the NES cartridges that the FC Mobile plays, I suppose that it had to be this thick. The larger size does give it a screen size advantage of 2.4 inches. Do you need a new website?

Do you need a new website for your business?

How can you know if your website is good?

You must start with some simple things:

  • Does your site accomplish its goals? Do you profit from eBusiness. For example if you want to see 5 products per day have the site reached this target? If yes can you improve it to sell more than 5 products per day? If the site doesn’t reach the sales target what you must ask yourself why.
  • Web design. What is considered a good designed site? In my opinion a good designed site must build trust between you and clients (visitors).

Get the most out of your tube of toothpaste

Get the most out of your tube of toothpaste
I’ve always thought that toothpaste tubes were poorly designed. Try as you might, you’ll never get all of that stupid gel out of there. Crest had a design about 10 years ago that actually seemed to work rather well, it basically had a bag of toothpaste inside of a plastic pump. I don’t think I’ve seen those in some time though. If you’re really dead-set on getting every last bit of goo out of your toothpaste tube, then you might try out the Squeezit Squeezer (I bet you’ll never guess what it does). This little guy basically works by putting pressure above and below the tube. Just pull one end through when it’s getting low, and you’re good to go. CES 2008: Optimus Maximus Keyboard

CES 2008: Optimus Maximus Keyboard
So much of what we see at CES is just vaporware. It doesn’t exist and it may never exist. In fact, after a healthy dose of CES, everything that IS available starts to look incredibly lame in comparison. The Optimus Maximus keyboard is a good example. Imagine a computer keyboard in which the keys can be WHATEVER you want. Instead of stickers on your keyboard (that would be MY solution), the Optimus Maximus keyboard has a tiny LED screen on each and every screen. You can change the keys based on your language or whatever other scheme you prefer. When we saw Optimus Maximus at CES this year, we thought it looked cool, but both Mike and I assumed that it would never see the light of day. We had seen this keyboard before and nothing had come of it. (Read the full post about ‘CES 2008: Optimus Maximus Keyboard’…)

RolerBall for summer fun

RolerBall for summer fun
Fancy getting an adrenaline rush? Why not check out the RolerBall - do make sure you take the necessary precautions beforehand though. Once inflated this behemoth stands about three metres high, and is rather like a spherical cushioned igloo. The idea, which sounds insane, is to put it at the top of a slope (we suggest a very gentle one with a long unobstructed run-off), strap yourself in, and then roll down the hill trying not to lose your lunch. Inside the centre shell are two harnesses, so you could have two people feeling the adrenalin rush, and probably the queasiness, together. There is a version of this mad sport that requires you to remove the harnesses, add a bucket or two of water, tie in the seal (which comes with the ball and straps into the opening), and launch yourself off. RIM Wants To Compete With iPhone

RIM Wants To Compete With iPhone
RIM apparently has a product in the making known as AK - which obviously enough, stands for “Apple Killer”. It will, of course be a touch screen device and RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis let fire his salvo, “I couldn’t type on [the iphone] and I still can’t type on it, and a lot of my friends can’t type on it. It’s hard to type on a piece of glass.” It would be interesting to see what kind of blackberry that will end up as. I know the consumers are just going to so love such competition.
