PC Crammed Into Toaster

Written by admin on Monday, August 4th, 2008 in gadgets.

PC Crammed Into Toaster
This is one hot computer for a simple reason - it has been crammed inside the case of a toaster. Yes, an ordinary toaster that belongs in the dining room or kitchen instead of the living room. Unfortunately, once a computer is up and running within, it will lose all ability to churn out perfectly toasted slices of bread for your morning breakfasts - but at least you get to have a crack at your favorite games and programs. Some of the hardware inside include :- Intel 3.6GHz processor 2.5″ hard drive DVD-ROM drive Built-in router Talk about one hot custom mod. What other shells of unwanted consumer electronic devices that you think would make for a good PC case? (Read the full post about ‘PC Crammed Into Toaster’…)

ImmobiTag Protects Your Bicycle

ImmobiTag Protects Your Bicycle
ImmobiTag is something that people who own a bicycle might want to take note of. If you’re worried about your previous bicycle being stolen, the ImmobiTag is a device that can be attached to your bike, via a one-time installation method, and features a unique ID number that users will register on the Immobilise website. The installation method should be secure, as the only way to remove it is to cut the bike’s frame, which would make stealing it kind of pointless. In the event the bike is recovered, the police can just scan the tag to verify if you’re the rightful owner of the bike by comparing the information with the Immobilise database. Chinavasion’s wireless dental camera enables at-home grill examinations
by Darren Murph, posted Aug 4th 2008 at 10:40AMOddly enough, we’ve seen mouth-mounted cameras before, but those have typically been used more for sport and less for serious matters. Chinavasion, of all companies, has just introduced its very own wireless dental camera, which puts a 1.3-megapixel camera on the end of a toothbrush-like apparatus in order to snap shots and transmit them wirelessly to a nearby display. Trying to find a respectable way to talk your kid out of dental school? $103.13 should provide all the necessary grossness to sway their decision.[Via CNET]Read PermalinkEmail this17 CommentsFiled under: Digital Cameras, Misc. Marc Lefar from AT&T joins Vonage as new CEO
This is almost getting to be a record, we are able to post another bit of news about Vonage that is not bad. It seems, and I can only hope that things are finally on the up and up for the struggling VoIP provider. The latest information is the announcement of their new CEO, Marc Lefar who came over from AT&T where he was the Chief Marketing Officer. Lefar is replacing the temporary CEO Jeff Citron who will stay on board as a non-executive chairman. Lets just hope that the combination of a new CEO and the $215 million in financing they recently received will be enough to keep things moving smooth. ASUS Eee Box B202 reviewed, smiled upon
by Darren Murph, posted Aug 4th 2008 at 8:37AM So, can a $299 mini desktop really find a place in your jaded heart? Based on a recent review by HotHardware, the answer is a resounding “yes.” In terms of general performance, the box delivered more potency than critics expected, and the hardware within was able to provide a “a fluid experience in all but the full 1080p digital video playback test.” Of note, it didn’t have any trouble churning through a 720p clip, so there’s still hope for folks obsessed with flipping through HD trailers for hours on end. Furthermore, the unit was found to be remarkably energy efficient, with only “a slightly heavier draw than an Eee PC 900.” Of course, we wouldn’t expect this to replace your Alienware or anything, but for the most average of tasks, the B202 should be adequate enough. Sanjay Jha in at Motorola as co-CEO, handset division chief

Sanjay Jha in at Motorola as co-CEO, handset division chief
by Joshua Topolsky, posted Aug 4th 2008 at 11:38AMMotorola announced today that it would be appointing Qualcomm’s former COO Sanjay Jha to head up its ailing handset division — much to the chagrin of our own Ryan Block. Jha will also take on co-executive duties for the parent company along with current CEO Greg Brown. The news comes hot on the heels of speculation that the electronics-maker will spin off its mobile phone wing as a separate, publicly traded entity, though chatter persists that an outright sale of the division may be more economically advisable at this stage. So here’s the question that begs asking: why has Moto gone the co-CEO route? (Read the full post about ‘Sanjay Jha in at Motorola as co-CEO, handset division chief’…)
